Recent Work
It was a pleasure meeting both Rudy and Rodman during AGO Projects’ time in Aspen several years ago. I’ve continued to follow the Gallery’s work since then and wanted to share a few pieces that have emerged from my studio more recently.
My practice moves between furniture, sculpture and functional objects, with an ongoing interest in material, structure, pattern and the evidence of making. Much of the work begins with familiar forms and construction methods, then shifts through experimentation with scale, repetition and unexpected combinations of materials.
Basket Case Chair
A new seating series built around a hand-fabricated steel framework and an upholstered interior. The exposed structure becomes both the support and the visual language of the chair—part furniture, part investigation of the investigation of the relationship between volume and density.
The chair is conceived as an adaptable framework. Upholstery, color and pattern can change from piece to piece, allowing the same structure to take on very different personalities while retaining its underlying form.
Cinder Block Vases
This design begins with one of the most ordinary units of construction: the concrete masonry block. Color, material and craftmanship transforms a familiar architectural material into something more intimate and domestic.
The result is an individual object for flowers, branches or simply as sculpture.
