Recent Work
Per my email, here are some images of the chair that I referenced. The patchwork pattern originates from an ottoman that was recently shown at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass Village, with upholstery by local artist Claire Wright.
Basket Case Chair
A new seating series built around a hand-fabricated aluminum framework and an upholstered interior. The exposed structure becomes both the support and the visual language of the chair—an investigation of the relationship between volume and density.
The chair is conceived as an adaptable framework. Upholstery, color and pattern can change from piece to piece, allowing the same structure to take on very different personalities while retaining its underlying form.
The neutral design shown is a rendering of an organic, textural fabric in contrast with the structured framework.
The loveseat rendering demonstrate how readily the form translates for different environments and experiences.
Objects
Alongside the furniture, I make smaller functional and sculptural objects that begin with familiar industrial forms and materials.
The Cinder Block and Traffic Cone vases begin with objects so familiar they often go unnoticed. Transforming them through scale, color and material, regains attention. Both unexpected and thought provoking — a vessel, an object, and a study in form and color.
